Recalling Elected Officials

What happens when you know longer have trust in your government?

That is the main question that SaskRecall.com ask you when you log into their new mission.

I first heard rumours about this movement a few months ago and thought it had a chance to catch on as I understood that a growing number of people were disillusioned with the lack of leadership they were getting at all levels of government. The stories I read and people I spoke with kept asking the same questions. “What is my Member of Parliament or my MLA actually doing these days when they are not even in session?” “What is the city council doing with all the tax dollars and the constant increased in my taxes?”

Lately, people have become cynical about their police and school board members. What with the arrests of pastors across Canada, to posting pictures of their neighbours on social media urging other neighbours to snitch them out as if they were on a hit list, most people have been shaking their heads and saying something is wrong. And of course, the school boards who continue to do nothing about the masking of children, the banning of children from classrooms for 2 weeks isolation in a bedroom for simple contact tracing, and the recent allowance to the SHA for a mass inoculation of children in their schools.

People feel helpless. They write letters and emails and get back a canned response. They openly wonder and post why there is no one speaking on their behalf, or even speaking in public to calm people down during what is supposed to be the most destructive and dangerous disease to ever see the light of day in our generation.

So it would be an understatement if I never said I was quite pleased with the roll-out of SaskRecall.com. Their message and mission is simple and straightforward, “…voters can remove an elected official from office through a direct vote before that official's term has ended.”…This type of recall is used in the USA and one notable recall going on right now is for Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California.

Take a gander. The website is clean and easy to navigate and allows you to participate in one of the fastest growing movements in Canada made up of hard working tax-payers that are tired of “The Establishment.”

A few nuggets from the website

What is Recall?: Recall Legislation, or Recall Referendum is a procedure by which, in certain polities, voters can remove an elected official from office through a direct vote before that official's term has ended. Recalls, which are initiated when sufficient voters sign a petition, or meet the requirements.

Right now, there is nothing legislated that allows the citizens of Saskatchewan an option to act in the event that our Saskatchewan government becomes unreliable and out of control. Instead, once we elect, our hands are tied for four years even while a government runs rampant, spending our taxpayer dollars entirely unchecked—leaving the debt and social damage for our children to deal with.

Did You Know That Several Municipalities Use Electronic Tabulation?

ES&S Electronic Tabulators: It now appears that several municipalities have begun the use of counting our ballots electronically—some municipalities have been using electronic tabulation for decades. While this seems to help ease the workload associated with elections, other concerns are raised into the machines themselves—are they honest and secure?

Yours in love of this great province we call Saskatchewan,

Daryl
